Letter from Sonny Boy Smith to Martha Smith; December 13, 1943
From the Ellard-Murphree-Pilgreen-Smith Family Papers Collection. Sonny Boy Smith to Martha Smith; December 13, 1943. Sonny Boy starts off saying that he didn't intend on writing a letter in return, but he would since he enjoyed the one Martha had sent him earlier. He had just finished off a week full of tank training(manuevring). He notes the conditions they had to go through while going through the training. He notes how fast the tanks go, answering a question Martha had asked. To finish his letter up, he mentions he recieved a Christmas Card from Mrs. Eloyle, saying all the boys must have gotten one. He also tells Martha not to send his Christmas gifts, just to hold onto them as he thinks he's getting shipped out soon.
