State College, Miss 30 P.M 1942 Mrs. S. H. Smith Pittsboro, Miss Tuesday Night Dear Mother, I caught a ride with a man and didn't have to catch the bus. I caught the same man that I did the last time that you brought me to Eupora He didn't abide by the traffic law very well. He drove 60 and 70 all the way. I wrote Bennie a letter and told her about my trip home and all that stuff. I also told her what size shirt I wear. I got only 11.80 from the laundry. I bought a meal book but I hardly had enough left to buy a coat. I went to see a show last night that I liked mighty well It was the moon and sixpence It was about a painter that quit two wives and a bunch of stuff. I met an old man the other day before I came home and he said that his name was Sam Smith. He said that he used to live in Calhoun county and that he had known Daddy all his life. He was waiting for a bus in front of the Y. I don't like Harpol as much since he got a radio and turns it on some jazz music about twelve o c'clock every night. He has got it going full force now and I can hardly write this letter. Well there hasn't much news accumlated since I got back so there isn't anything to do but quit wishing you both good. health Sonny Boy
