Johnson Jackson, Mississippi Dear Paul:- The way for a man to grow stronger politically is to keep adding the best material to his organization. Up in dear old Calhoun County at Pittsboro lives Sam H. Smith, ex- sheriff of the County-- and he made a good one-- who has been working for the Motor Vehicle Commission under Howard Dyer. You can readily appreciate the fact that the way he was geared up, in the recent Governor's race he could no do any- thing else except to go along with the organization, and I doubt seriously whether he voted for you, but I do know that Sam is one of my best friends and he will be your good friend. Sam will be a wonderful asset to you so please let me suggest that you break over or reach out and take Sam into the fold I assure you that you will never regret it. His influence is not confined to Calhoun County alone. If you can see your way clear to retain Sam with the Motor Vehicle agency, I will personally appreciate it and I assure you that you will never have cause to regret it. With appreciation, I am Sincerely yours, U.S.S. TGB:mf
