Box 3 Pittsboro, Miss AFTER 5 DAYS RETURN TO OFFICE OF MOTOR VEHICLE COMMISSIONER STATE OF MISSISSIPPI JACKSON Miss Christine Smith Rose Hill, Miss Pittsboro JAN 19 A.M. 1937 OFFICE OF MOTOR VEHICLE COMMISSIONER STATE OF MISSISSIPPI HOWARD DYER COMMISSIONER JACKSON Tuesday night JOE B. KEITH ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER Dear Chris, I intended writing you last night but didn't feel equal to it. Since passing a kidney stone as large as a pea I'm feeling lots better I think I will get along much better surely- Everybody has been so good to come to see me I've had several in every day since I got sick. Miss Leila has been several times and brought me my dinner yesterday. Bessie brought me some today so I believe I'll stay sick. I've really had a tough time. Daddy came back last night because he was uneasy about him me, but left out again this morning to be gone till Sat. Bro. & Mrs. Jones were in town today and came to see me. I surely was glad to see them. They looked so nice. Their baby boy is the prettiest child I ever saw. He has long brown curls and looks exactly like a little girl. Martha moves into the practice house next week. She's having exams now. I think she's in a big way about moving- Martha said that they shipped the Mosely girl from Vardaman who is a fresh man Her mother is Mary's first cousin. She stole a girls check book from her purse got her name from the stubs and forged her signature to 11 checks. one was for $4500 but they caught her before she got it cashed I was telling Mrs. Clark about it and she said that she went off to Memphis last spring and got rid of a kid. She said she was bad every way. Sonny Boy is expecting the pig daily that D. Creekmore promised him. He has made a very nice trough this afternoon. S.B. made real good grades on everything this last month and on his exams. I'm real proud of him. Ola Wooten has been appointed Sec. of S. school so I'll be relieved of that job. Bessie has been to see Elena & Shed's OFFICE OF MOTOR VEHICLE COMMISSIONER STATE OF MISSISSIPPI HOWARD DYER COMMISSIONER JACKSON JOE B. KEITH ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER baby she said it was a fine boy. I had two more teeth pulled last week which makes a total of 5. I only have four jaw teeth left so I have to do all my chewing on my front teeth which is very dissgreeable. I hope you can find you a coat you like. I wouldn't buy something I didn't like tho you you'll always be disgusted with it. I do hope the man paid you as he promised Mary Goar has the flu. She sent me the $500 she owed me Sat. Dr. Creekmore has put Effie to bed for 30 days- my opinion is that she won't ever get up- however Cliff said she was feeling better. I noticed Ethel Young was wearing a new ring I'm not an expert on stones so I don't know that is a diamond but that's what it looks like. Bill bought Bob's part the land so that was how he paid off all his debts while he was home. I guess he'll be like Wade and wont have a cent left in 30 days. Daddy is looking and feeling much better than he has in a long time. I sure am glad for I was beginning to feel anxious about him- I guess I'll get a letter from you tomorrow. Hope your play goes off fine and that you won't have too much work to do. I must write Martha and Bernice too so bye and be good Lovingly Mother
