Senator S. H. SMITH PITTSBORO, MISS. Miss Christine Smith Box 888 M.S. C. W. Columbus, Miss. Pittsboro JAN 22 A.M. 1937 Miss OFFICE OF MOTOR VEHICLE COMMISSIONER STATE OF MISSISSIPPI HOWARD DYER COMMISSIONER JACKSON Sunday JOE B. KEITH ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER Dear Chris I'd hardly call this anything except just to let you hear from me. I don't think I've ever know as little to happen this week. I went to Sunday school as usual. There were only 23 there but we had a right interesting discussion. Mrs. Clark is real sick and threatened with pneumonia. I should have gone to see her but Daddy is here for such a short time that I stayed with him. I'll try to go tomorrow. I've almost frozen this last cold spell and I hear over the radio tonight that another is following. I do wish it would he pretty weather for awhile. Sidney Smith hasn't appeared and I haven't heard from him. He surely won't be located at Pittsboro for there is to be no road work here. I told Leon to watch out for him He is trying to get work with the High Way Dept. I hope he gets something. I feel sorry for him. He looks like a lost dog. I'm anxious to hear how Martha enjoyed the dance and if John Allen liked it. The paper said that only 70 seniors were going to attend. I guess they couldn't get the men. Christine, I'll be glad to make you a dress. Don't pay more than 79c for the material. If you don't find anything before next week I'm going to order samples from Goldsmith's tomorrow and I'll send them on to you. I think a patent leather belt to match the material will he pretty to go with it. You'll have to send me one of your last summer dresses that fits you so that I can get the correct sizes. The P.T.A. is to have the banquet Feb. 11, and the Argantine Entertainers are to be here with a program soon. OFFICE OF MOTOR VEHICLE COMMISSIONER STATE OF MISSISSIPPI HOWARD DYER JACKSON COMMISSIONER JOE B. KEITH ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER I hope you will soon get the play off your hands I'm sure it's very trying to practice during school hours. Sonny Boy has a new pair of $1.79 Sears shoes. He got tired of wearing plough shoes to church. He got a long letter from Bernice He had written to her telling her to try to get him a pet coon. She has promised to ship him one if she can still get it. The other night I suppose he was un- usually lonesome and he said, "I do wish Daddy, Bernice & Christine & Martha was here, We're all scattered, it does look like we could be together sometime." We had a good time last Tuesday at the quarterly Conference and lots of good dinner. I'm entering the 2 inch square that Asher & little Jimmie are putting on. That is to see how many 3's we can put in it. I almost put my eyes out and succeeded in getting 1255 in the square. Of course I don't expect to win a prize but it's an excuse to get the song book that Sonny Boy is very anxious to own I must write to Bernice and Martha. I'll try to write you a longer letter next time. When is your school out? Lots of love from Daddy, Sonny Boy & Mother How gentle bod is gone To walk the misty night alone On stepping stones and stars that look with the morn. Perhaps when morning comes Here under the white plumed horse - clouds side by side Harnessed by the wind.
