Sunday Night
Dear Chris & Martha
The Jockey yard doesn't look natural
tonight as there are no horse swappers
there as usual before court and by
the way Christine that reminds me of
what Victor told me today - He said Ivy got
a letter lately from a woman in the
office at Jackson saying She certainly was
sorry that she g had to give up her job
as she had send in some mighty good
pieces among her best was the "The Horse Swappers"
and she told her she ought to try writing
short stories of magazine or papers -
We went to hear Bro Breland today
He preached a very good sermon and
didn't get cute a time I guess he was
feeling a little down tho since they
have informed him that they're going to let
him go. I think they'll call Cecil Ellard
Bro. Brumer is going to have new


house built for Cecil, he  and Vera to live in -
Its going to be in the pasture just North
& his old barn-
Daddy said came home Sat. He told me
about seeing you, going to the show etc-
Jesse has a job with the State Highway
Dept. and had orders to report in Greenwood
so Clelia & I went with him so I could
drive the car back. we went to see Tilla
B. while there I enjoyed seeingher very much
tho we didn't  see much stay long with her
Jesse to going to board with her. He has a
pretty good job.  Tilla Belle saw Kate was
sick and she kept her home for several days
to try to mend her up but said she was
in such a stew to get to MSCW she
thought the staying at home did her more harm
than good.
Less & Lois have really quit this time. She
left yesterday, moved all her wordly
goods and Johnnie Calder has already
moved in their house. Poor little
old Lois I'm sorry for her for I
feel like the Flanagan's have treated
her pretty rotten She said she had
stood it as long as she could for

Less had turned against her too for his
folks.
I enjoyed your's and Goldie's topics in 
the Spectator- Tell Goldie I really enjoyed her
nice letter and sometimes when I'm not
so cumbered with other letters and tasks
I'm going to write her one. Daddy was
crazy about her He said she was as
cute as can be - In fact she's just
his type - you can tell her this -
Christine I'm going to send you that
white dress for I know you can use
it. If you're ashamed to wear it  out
you can wear it with your coat and
I know it will come in handy-
The P.T.A. is serving hamburgers
for court tomorrow. I've promised to
help so I'll get to see the crowd-
Bernice is doing fine with her


teaching.
I got me some pretty black suede Red Cross
shoes at Greenwood They surely do wear good.
I'm going to get me some kind of a 
black dress if I can figure it out where
the money's to come from -
I hope you have good luck with your
dress Martha I'm  g sure it's going to
be pretty.
Daddy is to stay thro October at Meridian
He was sure he'd be moved - I guess
he'll go back Tues.
Bernice and I are going to C. City to
see Green Pastures tomorrow Night -
Victor got notice Friday that he had
been appointed to the job of Game Warden for
this county. Its pays $1.05 but he'll
have to keep a car.
Elizabeth is still keeping books for her Dad
I think Dwight's job is about finished
He don't go to Bruce often -
They have about torn the old school
house down but haven't done a thing
toward starting the new one -
Sometimes I wonder if we'll even get a new one

It's rather inconvinent for both church
and school to have teaching in the churches-
Katherine was home today came yesterday
and left today. Nobody saw her as she
didn't come to church today.
Hope you're feeling better Martha and
that your work isn't too hard on you -
The people in the county are mighty
prosperous you have never seen as
much cotton grown everywhere. The
fields are still white. The county is in
better shape financially than it has been
in years.
Hope you're both fine
and that "everything's running smooth"-
