SAINT LOUIS MO. JAN 14 10 - PM 1935 Miss Christine Smith Box 1033 M.S.C.W. Columbus Miss B.F.M. 110 North Elizabeth Ferguson MO Dear Chris I received your double letter, and I'm certainly glad you sent the first one too. I found it the finest of all I have received from you and I agree that you are two people in one. Of the two I believe I prefer the girl before the fire with her dreams, ambitions and interests in the more beautiful things. Her naturalness makes her doubly charming. However Miss M.S.C.W. is also very interesting, and I 2. am always delighted to hear from either [arrow pointing to "delighted"] I DON'T LIKE THIS WORD SO MUCH, PERHAPS I OUGHT TO SAY GLAD INSTEAD I missed my guess pretty badly about your home town. I went to the atlas, looked up a large map of Mississippi and to my suprise found Pittsboro in larger letters then any of the surrounding towns, so I though it must be of a good size. What must Timberville be? Its in letters half the size of Pittsboro's. I still say I'd like your home town even after what you've said against it, and when I see it I arrange for it to be summer. 3. Try and get back that windmill or i'll have to bring ones of my own. I enjoyed hearing about your family and now I'll tell you about mine. There are six of us in all. First comes Mother the j bridge expert, also a pretty swell mother, Dads next an architect and my grand boss following we have Arthur my oldest brother married and happy. Then Bob also an architect and a pretty good one. Bernard follows making three architects, and last but not least Louis 4 the baby just 18 years old and in fourth year high. We hope to have him be a doctor. In the animal line we have Rex Von Wagner a large German Sheppherd dog so dutch he only understands German at least that's the excuse we give for his dumness dumbness. We bought him when he was only a handfull now he is tremendous and one of my best friends. Sometime I'll show you a picture of him if you want me to. Then for the rest of the family 5. There are three birds, two canaries and one love bird. This about lines up the troupe. I wish you would have taken up your mother on the dare and sent me that picture taken of you at the tender age of 13. It surely could'nt have been as bad as the one I sent you with the hand on my neck and the sailor suit. I wait for that picture in every letter my curiousity as to how you look has risen to the very big best pitch possible. 6. How about sending me any old snap shot you happen to have, in your next letter. Be a sport Chris. It was one of those perfect days in St. Louis today. You could sing "June in January" and get away with it. The tempture was about 70 degrees, clear and bright. So out I go for a long walk in fact it was so long if someone had'ent come along and brought me home. I'd probably right now be in some railroad station miles away trying to buy a ticket back to St Louis. Well by the time you you receive this letter the exams will be right up on you. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you Chris. If I were you I wouldn't take that psychology to seriously. I believe the Mauron is the one who wrote the book. Wish I could help you with the exams, but If I did you'd surely follow the fate of your roommate. By the way is she out of the hospital yet. 7 after reading over a letter I also want to start over again, but I always send them. I've heard the second attempt is worse then the first If you don't like my calling you Chris give me a banding out in your next letter and I'll return to Christine for you. Write me soon and if you include that photo i'll have an ice cream sunday for you in my next letter, I remain, As even Bern I REPEAT HERE'S TO 35 [drawing of 2 martini glasses clinking]
