I think this will be the first
letter I have written you - in day
time-
The Chairman of the Finance Com.
is gone - home (I think however for first
time since this Legislature convened)
so we have had no meetings - since
Fri - he will not be back til Wed -
I should have written you yesterday
but had a lot of other letter to write
and just neglected you
I did not get to the Capital in
time Sun. to get mail as the office
closes at 9 and I was thinking 10
the hour - so I did not get your
letter till Mon morning, got the 
other one this eve -

they were awfully sweet - but sorry you
were so lonesome - if I had had my 
spare I would have come Fri night
but the night was so bad I dreaded
to make the trip, some of the Senators
who live 40-50 & 60 miles don't go
home only- every two weeks - I told
some of them if I was in 60 miles of
home I would be scarce around here
when night fell -
We hope to get through here 14th
I believe we will, I know we would,
but for the fact the "cursed" lawyers
who want to get certain laws by -
in the interest of their masters - want
to bray on till the lay-members are
worried out and leave after which
they can get away with anything
the[y] wish.

but I have send notice on
several of them that I would be
here when they finished their "program"
I wanted to agravate was my main
reason for making the [illegible] - for
if we had the approprations made I
would be tempted to leave as there
will not be but few measures introduced
now but what will die on the 
calendar.
I have not been able to see
Orma B. for a month or more they
don't come around since the fire-
works- have about burned "out"- we'd
have her get your order though in the
event I see her.
I saw Cecil in the galley today
but he disappeared and I did not
get to speak to him.

am glad "Sonny boy" is feeling good
and getting his - sometimes I think
it would be fine if we could
go from happy childhood to mature
years - fulllfill our mission and
when we had reached the zenith of
life and accomplished the things where
unto we were sent - then recede
back - as we came - be a child and
move and disappear - but it was not
so ordained - hence we should be 
content I guess - with fond recollections.
as for our selves - and provide for
the happiness of all the "kiddies" with
whom we come in contact - as far
as we can - If am careful that
we have even in a small measure

Hope the small pox will soon be
gotten under control without serious
results -
Well the boys are fixing to go to supper,
and Ill go with them -
Tell all the kids to be good and 
remember I will always love you

the road is open -
